Map of Puget Sound
Some of the sound (left side, the blue stuff)
and most of the Seattle/Tacoma sprawl (right side).
The two small X's in circles in the lower left
show the two places we lived on the water.
We're now living in Bellevue, East of Seattle.

These are images from our stay in several places on Puget Sound.
Puget Sound is a large body of water connected to the Pacific Ocean
that separates the Washington State mainland from the Olympic Peninsula.
We believe it to be quite unique, and we consider ourselves fortunate
to have had a chance to live in the middle of it.
Our first house in the Sound was on Wollochet Bay,
on the Gig Harbor peninsula, just across the Tacoma Narrows bridge
from the city of Tacoma (somewhat south of Seattle).
The
Tacoma Narrows bridge
is famous for
falling down
in the 1940's.
It was dubbed "Galloping Gertie" based on the harmonic motion that tore it apart.
The new bridge is much sturdier (we hope!).
Our second house, was on the Key Peninsula, on Carr Inlet.
We had a glorious view of Mount Rainier and many nights
we listened to seals serenading us to sleep from the floating dock
in front of our neighbor's home.
We also saw bald eagles, herons, kingfishers, various ducks and
geese, and (of course) seagulls and crows.
